Amanda Erickson, Licensed Massage Therapy - Therapeutic Massage For Pain Relief and Wellness
A Little History......

I graduated from UWM in the early 90's and went into sales, where I worked for more than 10 years. It never felt right to me, even though I understood the value of the work.
In 2005, I decided to take a leap of faith and go back to school for massage therapy. All my life I have been drawn to the power of touch. It was exciting, but scary. I had a husband and three young children as well as an employment history and degree that I was preparing to set aside in the pursuit of something completely different.
I attended Lakeside School of Massage Therapy in Milwaukee in September of 2006.
I got licensed and I started working right away at a physical therapy clinic in Wauwatosa. The clinic specialized in treating chronic pain and  TMJ Disorder. I worked closely with the referring dentists, physical therapists and the physiatrists who worked in our complex and learned even more, observing when I wasn't massaging and getting a whole new understanding of the face and neck and upper back. About 85% of my patients had TMJD and/or some other chronic pain syndrome. I worked there for more than 6 years.
It was my experience at the clinic that lead me to my specialty: necks. I have found this is an area largely under served in the massage therapy world and SO MANY PEOPLE have neck pain.
I am comfortable and experienced working deeply and carefully with all aspects of the neck and jaw. I know how to avoid the anatomical structures of the area such as the carotid artery and the jugular vein (among other things). Knowledge and comfort with the cervical area makes me able to zero in and find the source of the pain and, hopefully, work towards a pain-free or less-pain goal. I am thorough and realistic about treatment: no promises...but we can certainly work together to make progress. I hope at some point to add some testimonials from current and former customers to this website. In the meantime, I invite you to visit my page on yelp.com and read my reviews.
I am also have special experience in pre-natal massage. An area that always interested me, I did my final school project on the subject of massage during pregnancy. I worked closely with several women during the courses of their pregnancies at that time, and since. Massage is a safe and effective way (when done correctly) for expecting moms to feel well no matter what trimester they are in.
Other areas of special interest are essential oils. I am fascinated by both their medicinal efficacy and aromatherapy benefits. I use essential oils in my practice every day and  make my own oil blends.
I feel lucky to love what I do. I enjoy going to work every day. I leave feeling fufilled. I do not think it gets much better than that!
